Disney Interactive Studios and Junction Point have released a new trailer announcing Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, a sequel to 2010's action-adventure platforming game originally for the Wii. While we've heard about the game earlier this week, this is the first official trailer we've received that gives us a look at the in-game action.
Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Walt Disney's first cartoon star, return to Wasteland, an alternate world filled with 80 years of forgotten Disney characters and theme park attractions, for an all-new adventure of creativity and discovery. Except this time, players on HD consoles will be able to experience the adventure. While Epic Mickey 2 returns the franchise to the Wii, it also expands it to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Furthermore, the game features multiplayer drop-in, drop-out co-op, with the second player assuming the role of Oswald. The Power of Two is evident as Oswald helps in Mickey's adventure every step of the way.
Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two is also the first video game that can be described as a "musical" where characters express themselves and advance the plot by bursting into songs at various points during the adventure – making the game a true Disney experience. All songs feature original Disney-inspired music and lyrics and players will also hear tunes and instrumentation that change based on their personal choices, ultimately allowing each player to "conduct" their own soundtrack to the game.
Changes from the original include a revamped camera system with over 1,000 changes made, a brand new choice and consequence system, and voice-overs for every character in the game including, for the first time ever, Oswald. Of course, the game will see new settings and new characters like Ortensia, Oswald's girlfriend.
Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two currently has an estimated launch date for Fall 2012 on the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii.
