Well the brief Nintendo Direct is over, and we didn't get too much information. But perhaps one of the biggest nuggets came from a rather underrated detail. The upcoming eShop re-releases of Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow will be compatible with the digital transfer service known as Pokemon Bank.
It was also announced that the monsters you catch will also be able to be transferred to the upcoming Pokemon Sun and Moon games, though it still remains to be seen what those games actually are.
Pokemon Bank originally launched a few months after the release of Pokemon X/Y as a transfer service for players to move their Pokemon from Black and White into the new generation of games. It has since been used with Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire and looks to play a prominent role for Nintendo going forward.
Now if Nintendo could just tell us what Pokemon Sun and Moon are, that'd be fantastic.
