The free demo for Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight is now available on 3DS via the Nintendo eShop, developer Atlus announced in a recent tweet.
The Fafnir Knight marks the second installment in the Untold side of the franchise, which adds a proper narrative and more structured gameplay to the otherwise free-form dungeon-crawling. Rest assured, Classic Mode will remain untarnished. The full game is due out August 4, 2015.
In celebration of Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold’s demo debut, Atlus will be hosting an open review contest. To enter, fans need only download and play the demo and submit a video or blog (rap, podcast, picture, etc.) detailing their thoughts on the game to the contest's Facebook post. Atlus will select winners on July 22, July 29 and August 5 and distribute a “mysterious Japanese prize” in the following days.
Atlus has been pushing The Fafnir Knight particularly hard. Long before today’s demo or contest, the publisher released a detailed 3DS custom theme done up in the game’s iconic UI and sprites. Have a look:
