Mere months after the release of Etrian Odyssey 4: Legends of the Titan in February, Atlus has announced that the next game in the series is coming to Nintendo 3DS on October 1.
Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl is actually a fresh take on the first game, which came out in 2007. Publisher/developer Atlus revealed the new title last month. It will cost $40 and features two modes: the brand-new Story mode, which modernizes the original with five distinct characters, and Classic mode, which offers more traditional (read: challenging) gameplay.
The Story mode is friendlier to new players as Atlus has added the conveniences that made Etrian Odyssey 4 more palatable, including a variety of difficulty settings. The company also created new dungeons and enemies, and Classic mode allows players to create their own classes.
Etrian Odyssey is known for its intense difficulty, but Atlus is encouraging newcomers with entry points to the series that make the challenge more approachable.
