In a new post on the official PlayStation Blog, Crystal Dynamics’ Andy Wong elaborated further into the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of Marvel’s Avengers. The big takeaway here is that the PS4 version of the games will get extended exclusive game content.
We are exactly one month away until Square Enix finally unleashes arguably the biggest superhero game of the generation. Well, at least in terms of character count at a AAA budget. Marvel’s Avengers promises nothing short of playing as the most popular Marvel heroes on a scale rarely seen before.
And with every week passing, a trend is starting to crystallize about which platform is going to be the definitive version. While the PC version naturally offers the best visuals and performance depending on the hardware, it’s the PlayStation 4 version that truly manages to stand out.
We previously stated that we’re huge Marvel fans, but we’re also PlayStation fans. We are honored to be working with them to provide additional advantages to PlayStation players. PlayStation players will have exclusive access to certain Community Challenges, where the PlayStation Nation will work together to accomplish a goal in order to gain rewards specific to them.
Just yesterday, it was announced that Spider-Man is going to be an exclusive character on Sony’s console. A massive detriment to pretty much every other platform since if you want to play as the friendly neighborhood spider, you have to get the game on PS4.
Today, we learn directly from the developer that more PS4 exclusive content is coming. But not in the form of a hero character and instead Legendary Outfits, Legendary Emotes, and Epic Takedowns. PS Plus subscribers will further receive Rare Outfits, nameplates, and 100 in-game Credits.
Unlike Spider-Man, however, the bonuses mentioned above are only exclusive on PlayStation 4 for 30 days. Still, there’s little doubt that the PlayStation 4 version is the most feature-complete package.
