Yesterday, the long-awaited free version of Evolution Studios' PlayStation 4-exclusive racer Driveclub popped up on the PlayStation Store. Understandably, it caught many by surprise as there was no major announcement regarding its release. Shortly after fans spotted the game, it was removed. Turns out, it's not quite ready yet.
"We're preparing to launch DRIVECLUB PS+ Edition and will have news for you soon," developer Evolution Studios said in a statement.
"The Store update today with the DRIVECLUB PS+ Edition was premature. The servers aren't ready yet, so it's been removed while we get them ready. Apologies on their behalf for any confusion and inconvenience caused."
The free Driveclub PS Plus Edition was supposed to launch alongside the full retail version at release back in October 2014, but due to server issues it was never released. PlayStation Plus members have been waiting patiently since, and it looks like the wait is almost over. Earlier this month, Evolution Studios' game director Paul Rustchynsky revealed that the PS Plus Edition is in "the final stages of development now."
