Turtle Rock Studios has revealed Evolve's third trapper, Abe — a smuggler, a thief, and "potentially the sneakiest Hunter of the bunch."
Equipped with a buckshot-slinger, the Custom Shotgun's spread chagnes size and shape depending on the speed with which he's shooting. In other words, if you squee the trigger finger fast, you'll have close range pellets flying scattershot. Alternatively, if you're pulling the trigger slow and methodically, you'll get slightly more accuracy at a longer range.
Abe also has a Tracking Dart, and is able to tag any corpse or wildlife he comes across. If the monster eats one of the tagged wildlife, a GPS tracker will activate and you'll know exactly where it is. Abe is also able to shoot the tracking dart directly into the monster. On the downside, Abe doesn't have sound spikes to mark the environment, or an exotic pet to sniff out tracks or revive other party members.
Lastly, Abe has a Stasis Grenade that can slow down the Monster with electronic shackles. Unlike Maggie's Harpoon Mines or Griffin's Harpoon Gun, Abe's Stasis Grenades don't have a tether, meaning the Monster will be slowed for about 15 seconds or until it gets out of the grenade's area-of-effect. Abe is able to toss five of these Stasis Grenades out at a time.
If you're intrigued by what you just read, tune in to Turtle Rock's Evolve livestream on Friday at 3pm PT to see him in action.
