Working for a big name video game developing studio doesn't mean that you have to sell your soul to them and never leave. In fact, two former Leads at DICE, an established Art Director and a veteran designer from Battlefield, Lost Planet and Shadows of the Damned got together to bring a new game to PC and Mac.
Into the Stars will do just as the name suggests, bring you into space. In the game you act as the Captain of the ship on a mission to find a new home for humanity. In this role you and your crew scavenge for resources, shelter civilians, combat (or trade with) aliens, and – well – act as the savior for all humanity on the only space ship left.
The game will feature a single-player open-world where you explore 90 zones with tons of opportunities and challenges. Everything in this game will need to be managed, you can only carry so many civilians, modules and resources…not to mention if a member of your crew dies – they die for good.
As of writing this, the Kickstarter for Into the Stars has $5,861 pledged out of the $85,000 goal with 29 days to go. Check out the game in the video below:
Features, as seen on the Kickstarter page for Into the Stars:
- Complete Control: Take command of an inexperienced crew and guide them through a solar system packed with mystery and danger. From your seat on the bridge you'll steer the ship, manage resources and control your ship's systems while engaging friendly and hostile aliens. Can you make the right choices and reach the planet we'll call home?
- Explore a Massive Solar System: You have the freedom to set your course for salvation, but no approach is free of peril. Each of the 90 zones in this sector present unique opportunities along with challenges, and only you can find the path to success.
- Challenging volley-based Combat: Sometimes trade discussions break down and often the other party is out for nothing but blood. That's why your ship is equipped with a number of weapon systems that can speak for the human race in a language everyone can understand. Choose your target points and battle stations wisely to survive numerous alien encounters.
- Music by Jack Wall: Driven by an original score from the legendary composer behind the music for Mass Effect, Call of Duty and Lost Planet.
