PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers who plan on purchasing and replaying Grand Theft Auto 5 on PS4, Xbox One, or PC will be rewarded with exclusive content for their loyalty. Developer Rockstar Games confirmed today that they've created "an array of exclusive items specifically for these players – with each of them connected to activities designed for you to experience the game's massive world in new and exciting ways."
So what can players who return to the newer, more detailed version of Los Santos and Blaine County expect?
New Events & Rewards
New events and challenges will present players the opportunity to unlock exclusive new vehicles like the Imponte Duke O'Death and the GTA classic bird of flight, the Dodo seaplane.
Murder Mystery
As Michael, you'll take on the role of a detective as you follow a trail of cryptic clues to unravel a murder mystery. By solving the mystery, you'll unlock two Noir Style Filters that provide a "gritty old school crime classic" look for use in Story Mode and Snapmatic photos.
New Weapons
New weapons include the "high-powered, high-velocity" Rail Gun which comes with its own set of Shooting Range Challenges at Ammu-Nation. There's also the Hatchet melee weapon for those who prefer a more brutal way of dealing with foes.
Wildlife Photography Challenge
Playing as Franklin, you'll be able to help the LS Tourist Board catalog all the unique animal species new to Los Santos and Blaine County. In doing so, you can unlock the Kraken Sub.
Stock Car Races
Win a series of new Stock Car Races to earn unique custom Muscle Cars.
Monkey Mosaics
Track down and photograph all of the monkey silhouettes which have been tagged on walls all around the city to unlock new monkey outfits (available to all players) and a special Go Go Monkey Blista exclusively for returning players.
New Vehicles
New vehicles include the Cheval Marshall monster truck and the "faster and more maneuverable" Blimp.
A slew of other vehicles will also be made available to all players, new and returning, including a fleet of classic GTA vehicles "and a few more surprises" that Rockstar is saving for you to discover.
As a reminder, GTA Online players on PS3 and Xbox 360 will be able to pick up where they left off by transferring their characters to their choice of PS4, Xbox One, or PC. Additionally, anyone who pre-orders the "next-gen" version of GTA 5 will receive a bonus of GTA$1M ($500k for Story Mode and $500k for use in Grand Theft Auto Online).
Grand Theft Auto 5 is set to release on PS4 and Xbox One on November 18, 2014. The PC version will arrive on January 27, 2015.
