October 14th. Mark it down on your calendars, for it is the day that The Walking Dead returns with its Season 3 premiere. The bad news? It's my wife's due date, so I'm going to have to make the very unpopular decision to skip my son's birth if he isn't born before the 14th.
If you want to see what's in store for Rick and company in Season 3, watch the four minute trailer released by AMC. The show is about to get absolutely nuts with the additions of the prison, Woodbury, Michonne, the Governor and… holy crap… Merle?!
As someone that's read the comics and absolutely loves them, it's interesting to see the differences in how the show and comic use the same locations and plotlines. I'm not going to spoil anything, but I wonder the Governor will do a certain something to Rick, but Andrea and Michonne are in the Governor's custody, not Rick, Glenn and Michonne. I also don't know how AMC will handle other really sensitive things that happens to main characters.
I look forward to watching Rick transform into a badass and seeing the twists and turns that season 3 will throw at us. Oh, and I wonder if Merle really is alive of if it's just Daryl hallucinating again. Guess we'll find out on Sunday October 14, 2012 when it premieres at 9pm on AMC. The 16-episode season will air in two parts — the first eight in the fall and the show returning with the remaining eight in February 2013.
