With Microsoft shutting down Lionhead Studios it looked like Fable Legends would die with it., but now it appears like it might not be as dead as previously thought.
A month ago Microsoft Europe announced that they were shutting down two studios, Press-Play and Lionhead Studios UK. Lionhead was developing Fable Legends at the time the studio was shutdown and the project was canceled.
According to reports from MCV, who has three sources at Lionhead, supposedly "discussions are on-going about saving the free-to-play RPG."
The report went on to detail that "staff are being surveyed as to whether they would like to continue working on Legends, or just accept the redundancy package that has been put before them and leave at the end of April."
So Fable Legends might not be dead after all, as of now, it is in a sort of limbo.
Most of those who worked at Lionhead has quit already, but sources claim that Microsoft's consideration on whether or not to continue on Fable Legends is founded on a few Lionhead employees who are considering independently developing the game. MCV's other sources could not verify if that was why Microsoft was questioning the remaining Lionhead employees.
A spokesperson from Microsoft said "We aren’t sharing additional details beyond that we have ceased development on Fable Legends, and are in discussions with employees at Lionhead about our proposed closure of the studio as well."
So Fable Legends is not entirely dead, it is still a tad bit alive. But don't get your hopes up.
