We’ve been hearing since E3 2015 that Fallout 4 will have bases where players can have their own personal space. It wasn’t until recently however, that we learned exactly what that meant. Bethesda revealed that while the bases in Fallout 4 are inspired by the homes you could own in the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, they will be very different. Fallout 4’s bases will be completely customizable. Whatever you decide to build on those spaces will be your decision, literally from the ground up.
When building your structures on your base in Fallout 4 you will be able to do everything yourself. The placement of doors, walls, and furniture will all be by hand. All of these things will be built with different materials that you’ll find throughout the wasteland. There will only be a few set locations to build your base, but your options there will be almost limitless. While you won’t necessarily be able to build out, you can certainly build up. It’s been said that one developer took an already existing radio tower in one location, and incorporated it into his structure, continuing to build up.
It’s also been mentioned that the potential is there for people to create some crazy things on their bases in Fallout 4. It will be a lot like Minecraft where you could build a Tardis from Doctor Who with working lights, or a recreation of a spaceship from say, Star Trek. On the other hand, if you want to just build a simple domicile in the wastes, you can do that too.
Fallout 4 will be releasing November 10th 2015 on Xbox One, PS4, and PCs.
