Fallout 4 has no level cap and ‘doesn’t end’ with the main story

Fallout 4 will never technically end. Even after you’ve cleared the main story, Bethesda said in a recent tweet, you can keep leveling indefinitely in pursuit of the game’s 70 vanilla perks.

The lack of a level cap is yet another touchstone in Bethesda’s free-form design philosophy for Fallout 4. The studio insists they have prioritized exploration and interaction over visual fidelity, even after some substantial prettying up. Enhanced gear customization, relationship management and dialogue, crafting and more all lend credence to their claim.

However, as we learned at QuakeCon 2015, it’s still unquestionably Fallout. Power armor, the Fat Man launcher, lockpicking, terminal hacking—it’s all back and better than ever. Small tweaks like the ability to melee with any weapon, loot in real time and manage your own bases and trade routes will further build on the base experience.
