I know E3 just started tonight, but Bethesda's Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition might be the best announcement we see all show.
Revealed tonight, Bethesda is bringing Fallout's post-apocalyptic smart device — the iconic Pip-Boy — to life.
Created specifically for the special edition of Fallout 4, the physical version of the Pip-Boy will come as a wearable sleeve that you can simply slide your smartphone into.
Of course, the wearable Pip-Boy is just for show. You'll be able to access the Pip-Boy app — a brand new app that'll act as a second-screen experience with Fallout 4 — from your iOS or Android device even without the physical Pip-Boy. From your smartphone, you'll be able to see all sorts of stats related to your Fallout 4 game.
"As far as stupid gimmicks go, I chose the best fuc*ing one," Bethesda's Todd Howard said on stage at E3. I agree, Todd, this is fuc*ing awesome. A bit bulky, but awesome nonetheless.
Fallout 4: Pip-Boy Edition will launch alongside the game on November 10.
A physical Pip-Boy wasn't the only mobile-related announcement at Bethesda's E3. The company also revealed Fallout Shelter, a brand new mobile game available for free starting tonight on the App Store.
