Fallout 4’s S.P.E.C.I.A.L. video explains Perception

Vault-tec presents: The letter P.

Bethesda released part two of Vault-tec's guide to surviving the post-nuclear wasteland of Fallout 4, continuing to detail the seven defining attributes that make you S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Created as an acronym for the game's primary statistics, S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stands for Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, and Luck — all attributes that will impact how you survive the Wasteland.

In this chapter, we focus on Perception. Perception is used to study threats you may encounter in the Wasteland. With Vault-tec's asssisted targeting system, you can scan a threat and pinpoint areas of weakness; perception allows you to be more accurate.

Perception also keeps you safe during some "morally ambiguous" moments you may find yourself in in Fallout 4. As detailed in the video, you'll want to practice these questionable activities — like stealing — on youths, the elderly, and the incapacitated at first. But once you level up your Perception, you can go after more challenging targets and use more skillful techniques for greater returns.

It looks like Perception will have a role in a few other activities in Fallout 4, but the video cuts out before detailing them. Must've been damaged in the nuclear bomb. Check out the video above for more details and find out what makes you SPECIAL before Fallout 4 hits November 10, 2015.
