Way back when, Fallout 3 had a number to call for Vault-Tec, a fictional corporation contracted by the United States government to design and produce the vault system, a vast network of complex bomb shelters in the event of a nuclear fallout.
With the announcement of Fallout 4, the game's newly-launched website features that same number tucked away towards the bottom of the page.
In case you missed it, the number is "1-888-4VAULT-TEC" (1-888-482858-832). And yes, it is completely safe to call and still works all these years later.
For those who want to skip the dialing, here's what it says:
"Thank you for calling Vault-Tec, your first choice in post-nuclear survival. We're sorry, but due to unexpectedly high call volumes, all representatives are currently busy. Please stay on the line and someone will be with you as soon as possible. There are 101 million callers in front of you. Estimated wait time is 78,643 hours."
On another note, if you subscribe to email updates, you'll receive a message from the Overseer. It reads:
"Dear Friend,
Thank you for signing up to receive further communications from Vault-Tec. Though we encourage you to stay below ground in the safety of your vault, it is important to stay informed should the all-clear sign be given, so be sure to confirm your email address. There is no need to be impatient. The authorities will contact me in the event that it is safe to return to the surface. I will in turn, contact you. Until then, remain calm.
Best,
The Overseer"
