Fallout 76 beta begins in October, not everyone will get access at once

It was a pretty big shock to everyone when Bethesda revealed they had a new Fallout game in the works known as Fallout 76. It was an even bigger shock when they revealed that Fallout 76 would be a multiplayer game similar to something like DayZ or Rust.

When they lifted the curtain off of the ambitious game at E3, it looked promising but fans want to try it for themselves before they commit to Bethesda Game Studios’ first real attempt at an online game. Fans will get to play the game via a beta which has been revealed to begin in October, just one month prior to launch.

Bethesda’s golden boy, Todd Howard, said at E3 that the beta will be used as a way to break the game so they can fix it for launch but… it looks more like this will be used to stress test the servers given how close to launch it’ll be. Bethesda took to their blog to talk a bit more about the beta and stated that not everyone will be given access as soon as the beta begins.

“Starting in October we’ll be selecting people who have pre-ordered the game from a participating retailer to enter our B.E.T.A. We’ll start small and grow over time as we prepare for launch. Be sure you’ve read our F.A.Q., for details on how to redeem your B.E.T.A. code and other important details.

Beyond that, we know you have numerous questions about the game. Things are still changing and being iterated on, so we cannot answer everything yet, but we encourage you to submit your questions. During the Fallout 76 panel at QuakeCon, we’ll be answering some of your questions.  If you’re in Dallas, come join us. If you’re not able to make in person, you can check out all the fun via the live stream airing on Mixer. Send questions our way by posting them here in the forums, on any of the Fallout subreddits, Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.

Thank you again for all your patience, discussion, feedback, and thoughts as we get closer to the launch of Fallout 76!”

Everyone who pre-orders WILL be given the chance to play the beta but it sounds like some players may be given chances to play for longer periods of time. No dates in October have been given and it’s not clear how much content will be available during the period but we’ll continue to keep you posted.

Fallout 76 will release on November 14th, 2018 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
