Bethesda today announced that Fallout 76 is getting a free expansion with Wastelanders. Together with it, the game will also be launching on Steam which could increase the game’s popularity. You can look forward to April 7 when both F76 and Wastelanders hits Steam, B.Net, PS4 and Xbox One. Watch the new trailer about the expansion below!
Calling Fallout 76’s launch anything but a colossal disaster would be frankly untrue, as both Bethesda and the Fallout IP experienced arguably the single lowest point in their entire history. What started so well as a final answer to Fallout fans’ cries to experience a nuclear-ravaged world together with friends ended up a subpar game that immediately became the butt of jokes.
But Bethesda wasn’t going to give up yet. The company announced a massive plan to address criticism and improve and change the game accordingly. A large number of small and medium updates alleviated some issues but it looks like 2020 is going to be a make-it-or-break-it year for F76.
In Fallout 76: Wastelanders, people are now coming back to West Virginia. Two vying factions are struggling to gain the upper hand as the secrets of West Virginia are revealed. The Settlers have come to find a new home, and the Raiders have come to exploit them. Embark on a new quest for the Overseer, forge alliances with competing factions, and uncover the truth of what’s hidden in the mountains.
Not only are players getting a meaty free expansion with Wastelanders, but by bringing their game to PC’s most popular gaming platform Steam, the doors will now be open wide for a broad influx of new players. Whether this will be enough to turn around Fallout 76 entirely remains to be seen, but we are hoping that Bethesda continues to shape the game into what fans wanted from the get-go.
Wastelanders will go live across PC, PS4 and Xbox One on April 7. The same day, both Fallout 76 and Wastelanders will also launch on Steam.
