Old Ben Kenobi's tale is one that many fans have only imagined over the years. While we know what he did when he still went by the name, Obi-Wan, his life as Ben Kenobi is somewhat of a mystery (unless you've been reading the Star Wars comics). There's certainly plenty of potential arcs to draw on for a spin-off sequel, like Kenobi learning how to stay incognito on a corrupt crime world, protecting Luke without drawing attention, or where he even got the name Ben in the first place.
While this trailer is nothing more than a fan side-project, it does beg the question about the future of the Star Wars franchise beyond the current slate of movies, which currently runs annually through 2020 ending with the Boba Fett movie. You'd have to think that once the new trilogy is over with, that Disney will be looking for that next big set of Star Wars films, and remaking the original trilogy would seem to be a logical fit. If they found an actor to play Ben Kenobi (or just re-hired Ewan McGregor), it would certainly begin to lay the groundwork for a remake of A New Hope.
The 40th anniversary of the release of A New Hope happens to be May 25th of next year, so you have to think that Disney might have something up their sleeve for next year's Star Wars celebration.
