American McGee’s Alice and its 2011 sequel, The Madness Returns, were two visually stunning and disturbed takes on the Lewis Carroll classic and are every bit as crazy as they are interesting.
It’s been four years since the last installment and fans have been getting restless enough to begin a petition to get a third entry made, a petition that is being supported as a good step to get a project underway, “My thinking is that the original Alice was in a group of early 3D games that really showed the world how art and games could intersect to create something really beautiful. It was artistically cutting-edge in that way. Alice is about a subtle mix of action, horror, adventure, puzzles, and story… we almost got it right with the last game. I’d certainly be taking lessons from previous experience to get that mix right with a new game.”
While McGee mentioned he’d love to build an Alice game once VR gains more ground and ability, he also explainedthat “signing the petition is as good a place to start as any to help our Alice fans at EA make the case that the world is ready for another game.”
The petition over at Change.org already has well over 16,000 signatures, so if you’re one of the fans who has been hoping for another twisted fairy tale it couldn’t hurt to hop on over and add your name.
