Fans release Flash version of Capcom’s Mega Man Xover

Mega Man has been around for 25 years, and in that time the franchise has cemented a solid fan base of loyal followers. Capcom really struck gold with the Blue Bomber, but sadly, it won't be celebrating the iconic mascot's 25th anniversary with a big blowout. Instead, fans are getting Mega Man Xover

… a social RPG for iOS platforms.

It's a damn shame that Capcom isn't acknowledging its wonderful series in another way. And before you ask me what I would want from Capcom, that's not up to me. I don't make games; I play them, and I'm a fan of them. It's not up to me to say what Capcom should make, but I can certainly attest to the fact that Mega Man Xover is pretty damn pitiful.

Released in Japan as Rockman Xover, the game has been confirmed for North America. A couple of Mega Man fans — three to be exact — have decided that anything Capcom can do, they can do, too. Case in point: Rockman Xover Flash on Newgrounds. These folks recreated Capcom's mobile Mega Man experience, and it looks fairly identical.

It's sad that Mega Man isn't getting a big celebration and is instead being relegated to this mobile social garbage. I know the title of this game is technically pronounced "crossover," but I think we can agree at this point that Mega Man's over, and Capcom couldn't have made that any more painfully obvious.
