The hype for The Force Awakens has reached Anakyin Skywalker midi-chlorian levels. The hype is so high, in fact, that a majority of fans believe that this will be the 'best' Star Wars film out of the franchise. This is according to a survey conducted on September 14 – 16 by Harris Interactive that questioned 2,031 U.S. adults, 801 of whom identified themselves as “Star Wars fans."
It turns out that 63% of the surveyed fans think that The Force Awakens will be the best Star Wars yet, for a number of reasons.
- 36% of the individuals surveyed believed this to be true because of “more advanced CGI” technology
- 25% cited a “more interesting story” (it's presumed they are comparing to the prequels)
- 25% think “The Force Awakens” will be “more true to the ‘Star Wars’ series” (again, presumably “more true” than the prequels)
- 15% pointed to director J.J. Abrams; and 14 percent mentioned a better cast (once again, presumably better than the prequels).
There's a lot of hope for the film, but to say it will be better than the original three? Well, that just hits me right in the nostalgic feels. There's nothing that will top the original films. Nothing beats your first.
