Far Cry 5 getting direct sequel/spin-off announced at The Game Awards

An apocalyptic take on Far Cry.

SPOILERS FOR THE END OF FAR CRY 5 ARE IN THIS ARTICLE.

Earlier this year, Ubisoft returned to their acclaimed first-person mayhem simulator after taking three years off with Far Cry 5. The game known for its rich settings taken over by lunatics had a twist this time, it was no longer somewhere far from civilization, it was in our own backyard.

Players took on the role of a mute deputy tasked with taking down a doomsday cult who were terrorizing a rural county in Montana. At the end of the game, depending on which ending you get, it turns out the loonie known as Joseph Seed was right all along, the end he prophecized came true. Nuclear bombs hit Montana and you race to a bomb shelter as the fallout engulfs the once beautiful green prairies.

The game ends with the player and Joseph Seed locked inside a shelter, destined to be stuck with each other until you can return to the surface when the dust settles. Ubisoft seems to be following this all up with what appears to be the series’ first direct sequel or some sort of spin-off following the bombs dropping.

The game has no title as of right now and Ubisoft has only released a teaser for what will be announced tomorrow at The Game Awards. You can view it below.

If we had to take a guess, this will be similar to Far Cry Primal or Blood Dragon and gives us a radical setting and toys to play with but it won’t exactly be Far Cry 6.

Far Cry 5 is out now on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. You can read our review by clicking here.
