It looks like Ubisoft secretly delayed Far Cry 6 by two months. This comes from an updated listing for the open-world shooter on the Microsoft Store. The website states that FC6 will release on May 26th.
Of course, this could end up being an error on behalf of the Microsoft Store. But going by previous similar leaks, we suppose it’s fairly believable.
Far Cry 6 was originally slated to launch early next year, but it now encountered not one but two delays already. To be fair, the first delay was only one month, from February to March. Nonetheless, with the new projected release date of May, that’s an additional three months after what fans expected initially.
Embrace the gritty experience of an improvised modern-day guerrilla and take down a Dictator and his son to free Yara.
Ubisoft hasn’t shown that much about the new Far Cry title, so it’s not entirely out of the question that development simply wasn’t that advanced enough. That would also explain the delays and no-show of actual gameplay footage.
Even after all that, Far Cry 6 has us very excited. While it’s a cross-gen title, it will still be the series’ first outing on Microsoft’s and Sony’s next-gen consoles. Naturally, expectations are pretty high.
The few promo screenshots already look very great. Add on top, Far Cry 6 is confirmed to run at a razor-sharp 4K resolution and 60fps on the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. That alone should be reason enough to experience the game on next-gen.
But for the millions of gamers who plan to stay on current-gen systems, we have great news for you too. Far Cry 6 on current-gen systems will offer a free upgrade to the next-gen version. So, rest assured that your copy of FC6 will not be in vain and give you a free next-gen version whenever you get a new console.
