Mod support used to be a PC-only thing, but recently mod support has started to make its way to console as well and now one of the juggernauts of gaming are adding mod support to their new game.
Bethesda loudly announced that Fallout 4 and Skyrim would be getting mod support for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and that they would be the first to add mods to consoles, but after long discussions with Sony it now seems like PlayStation 4 players won't be seeing any mods for Fallout 4 or Skyrim anytime soon. However, that doesn't mean the end of mod support on PlayStation 4!
Another big and established franchise, Farming Simulator 17 announced today that they will be offering mod support for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 at launch. Apparently, the developer behind Farming Simulator 17 has more pull with Sony than Bethesda since they are managing to launch their game with mod support when Bethesda can't even make a deal with Sony almost a year after launch.
It seems like mod support for consoles is here to stay and who knows which franchise will be next to get it.
