The tides of VR are rising, and the platform's technology is getting better with each passing day. The next big game to announce a VR mode is Warhammer: Endtimes – Vermintide.
It is almost undeniable that VR is becoming the next big thing, the only thing holding it back today is the price of it. But the price is not stopping quality developers like Fatshark from adding a VR mode to their rat-killing co-op game Vermintide.
The new VR mode was announced today on a Twitch stream, and it is still in beta, though it is coming soon. Hopefully, the VR mode gets released faster than the console versions of Vermintide, but then again, it is better to wait for a quality game than a rushed one.
Not too much has been revealed about the VR mode, just enough to give fans a taste of what's to come. Players will take control over a new hero who has to prove his worth to the other five as a Master Rat Exterminator, and there are at least two maps to do it on, a forest and the Castle of Drachenfels, showcasing beautiful VR environments. From the looks of it, it sounds like a smooth and immersive Warhammer experience, just like the base game but a bit more intimate.
What makes this VR mode even better is that it will be completely free! Current owners of Vermintide will be able to download for free, and those who purchase it after the VR release will get it as well, Fatshark sure is keeping up with the promised free content updates. To celebrate the VR announcement Fatshark is also hosting a surprise sale with Vermintide being 50% off for 24 hours, so act quick if you want a piece of rat slaying action.
The VR mode is a bit away so this GameZone exclusive interview about Vermintide and how to not ship broken games with the CEO of Fatshark, Martin Wahlund, is an excellent way to pass the time while waiting for the VR mode to get released for Vermintide.
