THIS. GAME. My blood pressure was so much lower before last week. After all expectations were blown out of the damn water last week with that Persona 5 trailer, I thought the hype would slow down a bit. Wrong again Andrew! These new screenshots and scans from Famitsu and PlayStation Dengeki magazines have filled the coal furnace of the hype train for endless miles to come.
First off, the moon shot is simply stunning. The fact that this is an in-game shot and not a cutscene just goes to show how sweet P5’s graphics really will be; you’ll notice the party in the bottom right indicating that this could ‘just be’ part of a dungeon.
Then you have this combat screenshot which you can clearly see the intense, drawn-like detail in Arsene’s art. His wings glow and shine at the same time. The blue flames surrounding him are quite reminiscent of those which engulf the main character at the end of the most recent trailer. The spell effect is equally as intense. I can only assume some sort of Agi spell.
Lastly, we have the critical attack from the main character. The tear like effect running horizontally across the screen reveals absolute intensity in his eyes. Where did his mask go? Keeping up with the whole ‘intense’ theme, look at the letter characters to the right. Their art is so sharp and angry, it all fits the motif perfectly.
