EA Sports has made FIFA 16 Ultimate Team available on mobile devices today via, with hopes that the new interface will accurately reflect the console or PC experience.
A press release today confirms that a brand new FIFA Ultimate Team app launched today – free of charge – allowing gamers to connect to their Ultimate Team and play on the go. Players will be able to create new teams by trading players in the exchange hub, and enjoy some fantastic new graphics features for mobile play.
However there has been some noticeable difficulties for mobile in the past, and the game's developers have been focusing on device compatibility. This is something that has proven problematic in recent years, and something that EA are looking to tackle head-on this time around.
Commenting on the news Alex Grimbley, Line Producer, said: "In the past, bringing FIFA gameplay to mobile always involved some level of compromise because the devices just didn't have the muscle to handle what we wanted to do."
"However, with the increased processing power and advancements in graphics on mobile devices today, we can now give fans console-quality gameplay on their phone or tablet, more akin to what they would expect to experience on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3."
FIFA 16 is well renowned for its performance in the console industry although much like other major franchises – Fallout (Shelter) being the most recent – a focus on mobile gaming has certainly come into fruition.
But will this game be as successful as Fallout Shelter? We're not so sure.
