FIFA for Nintendo Switch not powered by Frostbite Game Engine, missing modes

The trailer for FIFA 18 officially dropped (along with details on the special game versions) and it came with a bit of bad news for everyone interested in purchasing the game for anything other than an Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

It was teased that EA was testing the waters on getting FIFA on the Nintendo Switch, citing it as a "custom built" experience, but it looks like that 'custom built' means a missing mode and different game engine. Hidden in the fine print of the FIFA 18 trailer is a line that reads:

"Frostbite Game Engine Technology and The Journey: Hunter Returns mode are available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC platforms only. Not all features available on all platforms."

Here's a screencap of the text.

FIFA 18 is set to release on Friday, September 29, 2017, for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The release date for the Nintendo Switch has not been revealed.
