To be perfectly honest, I’ve never really been into boxing other than following my Filipino hero, Manny Pacquiao. However, that hasn’t stopped me from enjoying boxing games, and this year it looks like fans of the Fight Night franchise won’t have to wait until 2012 to see a new iteration.
EA Canada is currently working on the new stand-alone title, tentatively dated for 2011, and will continue to capture the realism of the sport like they’ve been trying to do with the past titles in the series. New will be the use of a right analog control scheme, entitled Full Spectrum Punch Control, although more details won’t be revealed until later on this week. According to industry sources, it’s also been confirmed that there will be approximately sixty to sixty-five boxers in the game.
Gameplay producer Brian Hayes has also promised that the game’s career mode will be getting an upgrade as well as he introduces a new way to experience all the “drama, emotion, excitement and tragedy in the sport of boxing.” Random blood testing not included.
