Today marks a rather special day for Final Fantasy fans. In an unprecedented move, one that director Hajime Tabata certainly didn't have to make, the Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae demo has now got its first update which fixes and alters a lot of the mechanics that fans have complained about.
Hell, even I wrote up a piece on some of the changes I'd like to see in Final Fantasy XV. However, when I wrote that, I simply assumed those are changes we'd see in the final version, not an updated demo. Tabata certainly scored a lot of brownie points with his fans due to this move. It shows a an appreciation to his fans, and dedication to truly bring an amazing gaming experience to the table.
The Square Blog outlines some of the changes:
- You can now fight the Catoblepas! That’s the big monster in the lake. In version 2.0 one of them comes out of the lake onto land where you can fight it. Be careful though, it apparently takes 20 minutes to defeat with all four characters at level 99 and it can still knock you out in one hit.
- You can now warp out of battle to certain locations
- There’s a new dodge roll!
- New character interactions (in the field/environment and during camping)
- New team combo attacks using all four party members
- Additional side quests involving just you/Noctis and one other party member
Other GAF members have also noticed these changes:
- Abilities use less MP now. Tempest used to cost 55MP, now it cost 20
- Codge cost 5 MP now. I remember it using 10 before but I am not completely sure
- New charge attack with giant sword
- Just guard doesn't cost MP
You can download the update right now and it clocks in at almost 3.5GB. It's a hefty update, but if you were a fan of the demo before and wanted to see some improvements, definitely give it a shot.
