Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary event set for original FF7 release date

Last week Square Enix promised that they would reveal their plans for Final Fantasy's 30th Anniversary soon, but never detailed when "soon" would be. Luckily, Square Enix has announced that they will be hosting a “Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Opening Ceremony” at 5:00 PM UTC on January 31, 2017 at the Toho Cinema in Roppongi Hills, Japan.

The event will feature a number of "guests" and discussions panels. Additionally, there will be a raffle for 200 Square Enix members to attend.

The interesting thing about the event being held on January 31st is that it is the same day that Final Fantasy VII released in 1997. This adds more credence to the rumor that suggested Square Enix would be making some kind of announcement on the release of the first episode of the Final Fantasy 7 remake.

The rumors went on to claim that the 30th-anniversary will see the announcement of the Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Collection which would bundle up Final Fantasy I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII and IX on a single disk/card for the PS4 and Vita, and will include two versions of Final Fantasy I to VI: original versions from NES/SNES and modern ports (mostly mobile ports).

The rumor detailed that there would be three versions of the Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Collection.

In addition to the collection bundle rumor, it was suggested that Final Fantasy XIII trilogy for PS4 will be announced to release next year and will feature Final Fantasy XIII, XIII-2 and Lightning Returns on separate discs in 1080p and 60fps.
