After what felt like an eternity, Square Enix finally released Final Fantasy 7 Remake earlier this year. It was met with rave reviews and love from fans but of course, it’s only a small fraction of the original game’s story.
Many have feared it’ll be another long wait for the second installment of Final Fantasy 7 Remake but fear not! Director Tetsuya Nomura has stated in a new interview with Famitsu (translated by user @aitaikimochi)Â that the second part has officially entered full development. As for when it’s coming, Nomura hopes to do it sooner rather than later.
“We know that everyone wants the next installment quickly. We would also like to deliver it as soon as possible. Since we were also able to see the line of quality from the first installment, we hope to make the next installment even better in quality that can make for an even better experience.”
Nomura added that they plan to clearly communicate the plan for releasing Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 once they officially announce it. As for when that announcement will be? Well, hopefully soon as well.
As noted, Nomura wants to polish it and make it even better than the first game. How will he do that? We have zero idea but a lot of new content was added in the first installment that was not in the original game. We can only imagine they’ll continue to up the ante in the next game.
We noted in our review that it was disappointing that this was only a small glimpse at the larger story but the game that was there is truly great. “The exciting combat system, the ridiculously amazing soundtrack and a Midgar that was a joy to look at and run through all combined to give me a fuzzy feeling inside I only ever got from playing the original.”
