Final Fantasy 9 to feature no encounter mode and other ‘game boosters’

Last week, Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy IX will be released on PC and mobile platforms. Though the specific date is still up in the air — Steam lists "early 2016" — we at least know some of the features we can expect to see, courtesy of the Steam game page.

While we knew remastered graphics and achievements were in store, the Steam page specifically mentions the inclusion of "seven game boosters including high speed and no encounter modes."

While FFIX is considered by many to be one of the best Final Fantasy games released, many would probably also agree that it's marred a bit by the ridiculously high encounter rate. Anyone who has played the Final Fantasy VII re-release on PS4 can probably vouch for how valuable these "game boosters" will be on PC.
