Due to "overwhelmingly positive response," Square Enix has decided to halt the sales of the game's digital download. The highly anticipated MMORPG's servers officially went live yesterday and the result was long server queues, with many unable to log in and play at all.
"As a temporary measure, we will halt sales of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A REALM REBORN’s digital download products so we can accommodate all of those wishing to play," Square Enix wrote on its Facebook page. "We are working to expand our server capacity in the coming days."
"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this causes," the company said.
We've been playing A Realm Reborn for a few days now with mixed results upon trying to log in. While some of us have been able to log in during the day, it's been hit or miss at night when servers experience their peak hours. The general consensus among fans, however, is that the game is quite good if you can actually get in to play — IF.
