Final Fantasy XV Dev’s Plans on Project Scorpio and Nintendo Switch

Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata tells DualShockers that the team is considering how to support Project Scorpio from Microsoft. The game is already supported on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PS4 Pro, but there are two new console releases on the way: Project Scorpio and Nintendo Switch.

In regards to Scorpio, Tabata explained that the team is currently thinking about the kind of implementations they could make to warrant a release on the new console. Will the differences between Xbox One and Scorpio be different enough to warrant a new release? It's unclear, but he states that they're going to try to make it as good as possible, so a release is inevitable, even with the limited information we currently have.

On the topic of the Nintendo Switch, Tabata had less exciting news, stating that there are no plans for a Final Fantasy XV release on the Switch. However, he does add that many of them at the studio are interested in the Switch and that there are many Nintendo fans among their ranks.

Square Enix as a whole isn't shy about Nintendo however, as Dragon Quest XI is slated for a Switch release after its release in March. Square Enix isn't the only developer with Nintendo fans abound. Take-Two went out of their way to show support for the console even with none of their games announced for it.

The elusive Project Scorpio is scheduled to release Holiday 2017.
