Final Fantasy XV will be releasing Episode: Gladiolus in March, free-drive Regalia mechanics also in the works

Looks like Final Fantasy XV is not done with its additions

Final Fantasy XV's release may be long behind us, but Square Enix is still getting ready for more additions to the game. As we know already, the game is planning on adding episodic DLC for each of Noctis' companions, and it looks like the muscleman, Gladio is up first. In their most recent Active Time Report, Square Enix detailed some additions coming to the game, and one of the most immediate of them will be Episode: Gladio's release on March 28th.

Square Enix says the episode will be entirely original with all-new controls to reflect his longer, sweeping, and more brute fighting style and that series mainstay, Gilgamesh will also be making an appearance.

The company said that they would also be updating Chapter 13, which has proven to be a major problem point for a lot of players. It is the part of the game where everything becomes strangely linear. One player even managed to find a glitch that let them explore the open world outside of the linear portion, only to find that it was incredibly empty. This inevitably caused some players to think that this portion of the game had been rushed to make its release date.

To be fair, Tabata has since denied the idea, though that doesn't take away from the unusual nature of these linear design decisions when contrasted with the notion that the game is supposed to be open world. Another one of these odd linear decisions, the Regalia, will also be getting an update as well.

Tabata revealed that the developers are working on free-driving mechanics for the Regalia so that players won't be confined to the designated roads. The free-drive mechanics appear to be in a very early phase of development, so don't expect them anytime soon.
