Sony's push for an Uncharted movie has been a roller coaster of ups and downs. Last we heard, the film is in "development hell" thanks, in part, to the revolving door of directors. But apparently Sony is chugging ahead, announcing today a June 30, 2017 release date for the film. It was originally slated for a 2016 release, but given the never-ending drama surrounding it, I'm surprised Sony is even announcing a date.
Sony also announced today the release date of another video game-to-movie adaptation, though this is a franchise we've already seen on the big screen numerous times. Resident Evil 6, the latest installment in the Paul W.S. Anderson movie series based on the popular survival-horror/action franchise, is slated to hit theaters on January 1, 2017. Given that this is pretty much the most successful video game-to-movie project, despite having practically nothing in common with the games at this point, it's no surprise to see another entry in the film series. That doesn't mean I'm happy about it though. On the bright side, Resident Evil 6, tentatively titled "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter," is believed to be the final film in the series.
Sony also announced today plans for two more Bad Boys films.
