Firefly is coming back with Con Man! Kind of…

Due to trust issues with major networks, Alan Tudyk and Nathon Fillion have launched an IndieGoGo campaign to breathe life into a comedic web series written by Tudyk. The web series mocks how things have gone for the pair since their roles in Firefly…

Alan Tudyk, who played as Hoban "Wash" Washburne (the pilot) in Firefly, will play Wray Nerely in Con Man. In the series, the character Wray was a co-star on a show named Spectrum, a sci-fi series that was canceled and became a cult classic.

Nathan Fillion, who played as Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds (the captain) in Firefly, will play Jack Moore in the web series. Moore was the captain of the ship in the canceled show Spectrum, but unlike Wray, Moore went on to become a major movie star.

The show will follow Wray as he tours as a guest at conventions. It will feature guests from across the sci-fi community and "celebrate the world where heroes, villains, zombie hunters, and space pirates all overlap." The goal is to raise $425,000. It's a hefty goal, but one that makes sense when the budget is broken down. They need to build a spaceship, throw a couple fake conventions, and it's a pretty big cast.

Check out the campaign here.
