Electronic Arts finally let the cat out of the bag and announced the release date for Firestorm. The battle royale mode will become available later this month, on March 25th for Battlefield V. Check out the reveal trailer!
Gamers already knew that the highly-anticipated battle royale mode Firestorm would come out this month, but EA remained seriously tight-lipped with more info ever since Battlefield V launched last November. A rather frustrating decision for players who were eagerly looking forward to experience the popular game mode in the bombastic Battlefield series. It is indeed the first time that a Battlefield game is receiving a battle royale mode and with the franchise’s signature penchant for massive destruction and combined arms gameplay, it’s a promising premise.
Firestorm is Battle Royale, Reimagined for Battlefield. Dominate on the largest Battlefield map ever with epic weapons and combat vehicles as a deadly ring of fire closes in. Scavenge, fight and survive to become the last squad standing.
Sadly, players will have waited for almost half a year to finally get their hands on Firestorm. In hindsight, EA really bet on the wrong horse in favoring to initially release the story mode and postpone the Firestorm. It’s not like the Battlefield series is known for great campaigns par the outlier Bad Company games. The delayed appearance of Firestorm not only hurt players but also led to BFV falling short of EA’s own sales expectations.
So, it’s very clear that Firestorm is coming in hot with immense expectations both by players and the publisher. Its task is to no less reinvigorate the game’s popularity and assert itself among a sea of battle royale giants, like Fortnite, Apex Legends, PUBG and the like. Not an easy task but the ingredients are here. Now it’s just up to developer Dice to create a delicious dish.
Firestorm is coming to all Battlefield V players as a free update on March 25th.
