First Far Cry 6 screenshots have us hyped for launch in February 2021

Ubisoft has formally announced the next Far Cry game. With Far Cry 6, players are once again going to visit a torn third-world country that is under the rule of a brutal dictator. The game is set to launch early next year, February 18th, 2021 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Check out the trailers here!

Despite having leaked mere days beforehand, the arguably biggest news of the recent Ubisoft Forward digital showcase is Far Cry 6. Not only is it the first mainline sequel in the series since 2018’s Far Cry 5 but it’s also going to be the first entry on Sony’s and Microsoft’s next-gen systems.

In Far Cry® 6, players are immersed in the adrenaline-filled, chaotic world of a modern-day guerrilla revolution. Welcome to Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time. As dictator of Yara, Anton Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means, with his son, Diego, following in his bloody footsteps. But owners of a PS4 or Xbox One can rest assured since as a cross-gen game it’ll be available almost everywhere. Sorry, Nintendo Switch owners. It’s apparently too big of a task for your handheld hybrid.

Nonetheless, we expect massive upgrades in terms of fidelity alone on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Sadly, we didn’t get any gameplay footage but a few screenshots are available on the Ubisoft Store and we are thoroughly excited. Check them out!

Pre-orders are live now and in traditional Ubisoft fashion range from the Standard Edition at $59.99 to the Gold Edition which includes the Season Pass at $99.99. There is also an Ultimate Edition for $99.99 that adds several in-game items and a Collector’s Edition with a sweet – even if only decorative – flamethrower at $199.99.
