First half of Final Fantasy XV is open world, second half is linear

It appears as though the playstyle of Final Fantasy 15 will change about halfway through the game, in order for the game to stay interesting. Hajime Tabata, the director of Final Fantasy 15, sat down with Famitsu (via DualShockers) to discuss the gameplay structure we can expect in the upcoming addition to the series.

According to Tabata, Final Fantasy 15 will be split into fifteen chapters. The first half of the game will be open world, like the demo, and the second half will be more "linear and story-driven." The game was designed this way in hopes of keeping the player's interested piqued.

Keeping the game entirely open world could get tiresome for players and the more linear gameplay will echo traditional Final Fantasy progression.

Tabata went on to detail that progressing through the main story will take around forty and fifty hours.

Final Fantasy XV is set to release on November 29th for the PS4 and Xbox One.
