You might remember Caliban most recently from this summer's 'X-Men: Apocalypse'. In the comics, Caliban is a part of the subterranian race of mutants known as the Morlocks. He has the power to enhance his strength and stamina in relation to the fear generated by those around him. In 'Logan', Caliban's role will be to assist Wolverine in the care of an aging Professor X.
He was portrayed by a different actor in 'Apocalypse'. Considering the time gap between the 80's and this movie, which takes place in 2024, its possible that either his powers make him age slower in this universe, or they're just hoping no one notices the dual roles.
Logan releases March 3, 2017!
