The first images from the remake of Carrie have appeared online, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. It's not at a school prom, but it has Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass) covered in blood in a prom dress. Ya know, that iconic image. The Carrie remake is directed by Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don't Cry) and star Moretz and Julianne Moore as her fundamentalist mom. Obviously, it's a remake of the 1970s horror film adaptation of Stephen King's novel.
In case you've never seen the original, it's about a high school girl that gets pushed too far by her mother and mean kids at school. She unleashes her telekinetic powers at a school prom… and let's just say that the covered in blood image has something to do with that. I always prefer psychological horror/thrillers to cheap scares and gore, so it makes me excited when Moretz says that it's "more like the book. It's a more 'Black Swan' version — it messes with your mind. You'll see things, and you don't know if you've seen them." Awesome.
Moretz also said that they had four takes to get the blood scene right, because "that stuff stains your hair." Carrie releases March 15, 2013, and we'll report more as we get more images or a trailer.
