New Regency and 20th Century Fox have released the first image of Michael Fassbender in the upcoming Assassin's Creed film.
Although the movie is based on Ubisoft's iconic video game franchise of the same name, Fassbender will actually be playing a character created specifically for the film version — Callum Lynch. The movie isn't a retelling of the existing Assassin's Creed games, but instead plays off the same concept while itnroducing new characters into the same world.
"Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day."
Assassin's Creed is set to hit theaters on December 21, 2016.
