More than one year ago, on March 19, 2019, did indie studio Coffee Stain originally releases their most ambitious title yet on the PC. Back then the title did not only make headlines for its deep gameplay mechanics and sandbox-like design but it was among the earlier games that were secured as Epic Games Store exclusives.

Epic thoroughly managed to ruffle the feathers of PC gamers by bringing exclusivity deals better known from the console space to them. Many disgruntled gamers avoided playing any exclusive out of principle, missing out on some great games.

It soon turned out that almost every Epic deal was only timed-exclusive. Meaning that after 6-12 months the game in question arrived on Steam after all. Satisfactory is one of the games that took the longest, however, with 15 months. But in a developer video, the Community Manager of Coffee Stain Studios brought some clarity about why it took them so long.

The short answer is, the studio prefers to keep a healthy work environment for their workers instead of meeting an arbitrary deadline by all means necessary. That’s actually really commendable and should take away the frustration of waiting a couple more days away. And as an aside bonus, Satisfactory will launch with an extra 10% discount on Steam!
