First screenshot for Torment: Tides of Numenera shows off the Bloom

inXile Entertainment has released the first screenshot for its already funded story-driven RPG, Torment: Tides of Numenera. As described by inXile's Kevin Saunders, the screenshot is of the game's environment, set within the Bloom, using a 2D pre-rendered background technique.

The Bloom is a vast, semi-sentient predator, a monstrous, organic creation that extends its tendrils through the folds of reality. Its pathways, nooks, and crannies conceal terrors and wonders alike, and for those daring or desperate souls who are forced to find refuge here, any step has the potential to send them to another world. It's a hub, a center of commerce for those who trade in the relics of other worlds.

With four days to go, Torment: Tides of Numenera sits at $3.2 million pledged. At $3.5 million, inXile will bring on Chris Avellone, the original lead designer of Planescape: Torment — the inspiration behind Torment: Tides of Numenera. As I mentioned, there's still four days left, so if you'd like to see Avellone join the team, pledge at the game's Kickstarter page.
