During the Nintendo Direct conference this morning, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata finally addressed what Nintendo fans were hoping for — the new Super Smash Bros.. Unfortunately, he didn't go into much detail about the highly anticipated game and we're still left wondering.
"It is a huge development undertaking and we need more time before it launches," Iwata explained. Then he dropped a major bomb. The first screenshots for Super Smash Bros. will be shown at this year's E3 2013.
Iwata did say that game development is "on track" and asks that we wait for "just a little longer."
With a formal reveal set for E3, we should expect the new Super Smas Bros. for Wii U and 3DS later this year — likely, the 2013 holiday season.
