First trailer for MLB 13 The Show hits a home run

It's only January, but Sony has started the baseball season early with the release of the first trailer for MLB 13 The Show. The trailer is comprised of stellar gameplay footage of the seven athletes — Matt Kemp, Ryan Braun, Andrew McCutchen, Bryce Harper, C.C. Sabathia, Buster Posey, and Miguel Cabrera — up for the cover of this year's installment. And it looks damn gorgeous, not surprisingly.

The trailer doesn't show any of the cool gameplay features that are being implemented this year, like the new Playoff Mode, but it does give us a nice look at how fluid and smooth the game will play — as if we already didn't know. Also, like last year's version, MLB 13 will be available for PS3 and PS Vita, though we aren't sure if it will be part of Sony's Cross-Buy promotion.

While we wait for spring training and more information regarding MLB 13 The Show, you can have a say in what athlete will represent Sony's exclusive baseball title — and the only baseball video game set to release this year. Sorry Xbox owners.
