Disney is showing off tons at San Diego Comic-Con, one of the things being the upcoming Wizard of Oz movie, Oz: The Great and Powerful. And with that, we get our first trailer for the movie. And let me tell you, the trailer is both great and powerful. In Sam Raimi's (The Spider-man trilogy) Oz: The Great and Powerful, we get a look at how a magician from Kansas (James Franco) goes on to become The Great and Powerful Oz and protector of the Emerald City.
The trailer is kind of an homage to the original movie starring Judy Garland. It starts in black and white and in 4:3, but as Franco is wisked away to Oz, it transitions into widescreen and full, colorful world. We see amazing landscapes, pixies with sharp teeth, the movie's three witches — played by Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams — and even get a glimpse of a green hand with sharp nails, eventually leading to an army of winged monkeys flying in the sky.
Enough of me talking about the trailer I'm deeply impressed with. Here it is…
Oz: The Great and Powerful is set to release in theaters March 8, 2013.
